Get the point!
I have also discovered in this short ephemeral existence that life consists of invaluable lessons. Every detail, every bit, every experience, every object... Have in them the ability to teach or instil lessons, lessons that can transform life, change destinies, mould lives, and cause tremendous change.
Henry Ford says "anyone who stops learning is old whether at 20 or eighty, anyone who keeps learning stays young either at 80 or 20."
King Solomon, the supposedly wisest man on earth says" wisdom is the principal thing, therefore get wisdom. In all thy gettins, get understanding" proverbs 4:7.
You need not have intellectual intecourse with a thousand literatures to learn in life.
I was a voluntary futsal coach of these young brilliant and beautiful girls,in synergy with their other technical coaches. I spent my time, energy, resources and everything in me to ensure the got better and could challenge any team of their age and level, I'll never take on anything I won't be committed to, I would wake up in the middle of the night sometimes to device skills and tactics to teach them at training by 6am. A bunch of them didn't take the training sessions seriously.
Eventually we went for a competition in another city, the first I went with them. There were high expectations, we travelled over 6hrs by road for the competition, but unfortunately, we performed abysmally woeful, we had one draw, out of 6games and ignominuously lost the rest. The defeat and disappointment was so visible on me, that the players lost hope in themselves. I cannot recount how many times some of them came to me in penitence, feeling bad and apologised for letting us down so terribly. Offcourse no one would feel good after spending sleepless nights and money to get such result. Imagine we travelled 6 long hours journey to be defeated and went back home.
Shortly after the competition, I left for another city. They thought I gave up on them due to the experience, but I had to explain to the coaches why I left. For the next 3 months, I was not with them, they had intensive training, got more serious, failure has taught them a lesson, disappointment has given them determination.
And just last week, one of the most fulfilling days of my life, one of them chatted me, feeling very grateful and emotional, they went for another competition, and this time they not only won the games, they won the competition! I almost did not believe. Her words and eulogies thought me 3 important lessons in life
1. Failure had taught them the process of independent motivation.Neither myself nor the other coaches had to force, coerce or persuade them to go for training, they have learnt to motivate themselves even without external instigation or aid, they got point the first loss was trying to teach them.
2. Any story can change... With time. They were the last 4 months ago, now they are the champion. Just like the season Chelsea fc struggled to escape relegation despite being the PL champion the previous season. You see, you can be a failure yesterday, and become a success today. What's more important actually is the gap between the time of failure and success... What they did in that gap.
3.They wanted to prove 3 points to me
a. That just like every other person who has ever failed, they deserved a second chance.
b. That all the skills they learnt were not in vain, they only needed to develop and bring it out. See, all your experiences in life are never wasted, you will use the most insignificant of them someday, somewhere, somehow.
C. And that even though we were embarrassed by the first competition and ashamed of them, we could be proud of them again. I wish I was there with them during the victory celebration.
However the most important lesson is that they got the point. The point failure tried to show them. Get the point in and out of that situation.

Talent is Never Mandatory!
Hey guys, trust you’re cool or at least
trying to be cool? Lol! Thanks for reading my post this week, as I emphasize on
the importance of Wisdom, Will Power and Interest, over Talent. So, I like watching British football, and in
this edition, I relatively drew my discussion from 2, likely unarguably, best
footballers of my generation: Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. But let me be
quick to make known my personal opinionated assertions about both, on which I
will build my discussion!
Hard work and your Purpose-full Will are the
main playing factors that matter; but I should be quick to say that, for me, I no more determine Hard work by
what we say we have put in, but what we can show that we have obtained; Hard
work has gone beyond the effort, but to the result-proven smartness of the
application: Hard work is the Achievement!
So, let me end by asserting
that, if talent makes it easier, then Wisdom and Purpose-full Will make it “no
work”; you’ve done nothing, till you’ve shown something!
1.
Both are
always mentioned in the same context: the Bests in their field of interest.
2.
Both have
shared the annual World Best Player Award in the last 9 years: Messi has won 5,
but Cristiano Ronaldo has won 3 of the last 4!
3.
Also,
considering their styles of play, Lionel Messi is clearly a bundle of talent,
while Cristiano Ronaldo is more of a Power Play, a proof of a conscious effort
input over the years, and reports about him have continually shown that.
Thus,
for the talented, I will only re-echo that ageless word, “Talent is not enough”;
but to the untalented, but interested, I say, “Talent is not mandatory”. That
you are not talented in a “field” of your interest should not determine or
limit your success or excellence in the “field”. Mohammed Ali said, “For champions, the Will must always be greater than the Skill”,
while Rich De Voss said, “Persistence is
stubbornness with a Purpose”.
Ecclesiastes
10:10 (NASB) says, “If the
axe is
dull and he does not sharpen its
edge, then
he must exert more strength. Wisdom has
the advantage of giving success”,
while, Ecclesiastes 10:15 (KJV) says, “The
labour of the foolish wearieth every one of them, because he knoweth not how to
go to the city”.
You know, there comes a
time when persistent hard work competes with the best of talents; Nay, I mean, a
time always come, when persistent hard work rules over the best of talents. “I have seen slaves on horses, and princes
walking on the ground like slaves.” - Ecclesiastes 10:7 (ESV); “Do
you see someone skilled in their work? They will serve before kings; they will
not serve before officials of low rank.” - Proverbs 22: 29 (NIV)
So, let me end by asserting
that, if talent makes it easier, then Wisdom and Purpose-full Will make it “no
work”; you’ve done nothing, till you’ve shown something!

Asleep, not dead.
Mark 4:35-41
Only asleep, not dead.
Oh what a beauty to behold
The father is sitted on the throne,
With garment white as snow.
The ambience is warm, this place is pure as gold.
The streets are paved with gold, everywhere is clean, pure and holy.
Jesus was calm as the waves of the sea
Yet everyone was scared and they didn't want to see
Master! Master! Don't you care we perish?
The master was fast asleep
enjoying the beautiful dream of his real home in peace
The storm was raging fiercely
The rolling of the sea billows was frightening
Not even the sailor had hope in Him
There was no more spirit in them
Oh in despair they cried:
Master master don't you care we perish?
And the master arose from his peaceful sleep amidst the stormy sea
Peace be still! He declared.
The wind ceased and a great calm shadowed the roar
Oh! What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey Him?
They were amazed when they saw His power
Everything became like a wonder
Never really thought they'd witness
The power of Jesus and His greatness
He was disappointed at their lack of faith and courage
Yet His love for them is greater, His compassion deeper
He could not bear to see them in despair.
He was only asleep, not dead.
Whatever storm is raging in your life. David says this about the one sleeping in your boat "thou rulest the raging of the sea: when the waves thereof arise, thou stillest them" psalm 89:9
He may seem asleep, but He is not dead.
He may seem asleep, He will still your storm. Kayfaithscribe002017

NEW YEAR: THE BEAUTY OF TIME
So you’re welcome to 2017; you know the proof of a promising
better future is the gift of breath, when there is life, there is hope; thus, I
can assure you that 2017 promises to be awesome! But note the word “Promises” though,
’cos often always, but for miracles, you have to give an effort. And you know a
well-tailored effort comes with proper planning; thus, let me be quick to ask
if you’ve planned for 2017 or you’re still planning, or probably, you’re
planning to plan. Your response
summarily explains how you’ve chosen, passively or actively, to start your new
year! Remember, your experience doesn’t change till your approach changes!
Growing up, my Dad
would often remind us to live and prepare as if we’ll die tomorrow but plan as
if we’ll never die. Teach us to number
our days that we may gain a heart of wisdom” (Psalm 90:12 NIV). “Our days”
are not limited to those lived, but also to those to be lived: if we’ve not
learned to detail time, we’ve not learned to value life.
I
define Time as the unit of measurement of all things; nothing is independent of
time: Not only does time measure our activities, but also our inactivity. i.e.
if you’re asked of what you were doing between 10pm and 3am, you probably tell
them you were sleeping. Stephen King, in
The Green Mile, said, “Time takes it all,
whether you want it or not.”
Sometime ago, a
friend was seeking opinions on whether God can change the past, since He can do
all things. Sure Yeah, He can, but I
believe, more often than not, if need be, that He rather makes the past
worthless, using this Principle of stopping and starting Time. Often times He causes
a change by bringing a halt to the present time, thus ending an era, before
starting another; if this principle of time doesn’t exist, Christ’s coming
wouldn’t have made any difference either; His Coming would have been just a
part of the log.
“Time is what keeps everything from happening at once!”
- Ray Cummings, the Girl of the Golden Atom
And this principle is
available for us in forms of Will Power and focused decisions, with the ability
to stop an event in our lives and start another; ability to influence our own
experiences! Most times, we don’t need those special break-outs we seek before
we can influence the changes we desire! Constantly manifesting our ability to
say Yes or No, you can’t imagine how much we will change in our lives!
5 things Time helps to
achieve with this principle:
1. It gives the opportunity
to build history
2. It helps to build and
stop eras
3. It gives hope for a
possible better future
4. It gives an opportunity
for a restart
5. Time limits time
Time helps us to
differentiate the Past from the present, and both from the future! Myles Munroe once said, "Thank God for Time; it puts an end to
an era". But for time, we will be forever captured in our regret; with
the existence of Time, we will always have that hope of a new and better future,
and a hope to forget an unfavorable time. If you need a change, it’s a
New Year and the Time just changed, you might as well change with this time!
Have a Grace-filled
2017!

The light in the sky
Every beginning has an end
Every end is
a new beginning
2016 closed its eyes its sun set
Finally gone down to its resting place
Never to rise again
|
See its sun shinning
I can see its face smiling
Rising like the morning sun
Dispelling our fears like the morning dew
Here I come it says. I am 2017
Can u hear the firework?
Laughter is louder than when it works
I can see the glow of each faces wherever and whatever
races
The fruits that reflect the joy it gives
Will erase every tear and grief
It is high time for you to give to receive blessing
and forgive.
I heard a child
Shouting I’m happy
I know in my heart that it will be daily
There will be prosperity and fun
The past and the sadness is gone.
The sweet chocolate cakes
That Is Making Our Lips Messy
Will Make Our Smiles Sweeter Than Yesterday
The Trumpets Are Sounding
Saying It's Time For Joy!
Let Us Shout and Let the Love of God Employ
The Lights in the Sky That Shine So Vibrant
Will Always Be Nice and Gallant
The Sound That We Hear Might Break Our Ears.
But One Thing I Know.
The Lord Will Be With Us through the Year.

killers of life
KILLERS
OF LIFE
“Few
are really living, many merely exist” and “not everything breathing is living”
are the two profound quotes I read one time that changed my definition or
description of the word life. A question
jumped out of the front page of a beautifully designed glossy colored magazine
I read years back, and it says ‘are you living or lurking”? I was oblivious to
the meaning of the word lurking at that time so I checked it up and found it is
synonymous to words like ‘hidden’, ‘concealed’.
Sometimes I replace the lurking with struggling, because struggling at
that time would best describe my existence. I was only getting by in life,
never in control, never pro active, just passive. Allowing each day to pass,
flowing with the stream like a dead fish, no zeal, no enthusiasm, bereft of
true happiness, happiness was transient to me at that time, I could not rely on
that ephemeral euphoria.
I
wasn’t enjoying what I was doing, or the estate I was, I was in positive
mystery. In short I was bereft of life; I was only breathing and existing. Yea,
that’s where am going, there is a wide gap between living and just existing or
breathing.
I
bet you have used such expressions as ‘there is no life in that music, or
concert,’ or there is no life in him etc. these expressions show that we are
aware that life is beyond just existence.
Even in the spirit realm life goes beyond ephemeral existence, life is
more than this physical existence because at the expiration of this physical
breadth, life continues. Jesus said to
Martha “I am the resurrection and life: he that believeth in me though he were
dead, yet he shall live: and whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never
die…” John 11:25 and 26. Jesus even said; “I have come that ye might have life
and have it abundantly” life is to be LIVED.
However it is expedient to articulate what life is, in order to know
what kills it.
What is life?
Listen
to what Tom Baranski somerset has to say about life, this is both biological
and philosophical. “Life is the aspect
of existence that processes, acts, reacts, evaluates, and evolves through growth
(reproduction and metabolism). The crucial difference between life and non-life
(or non-living things) is that life uses energy for physical and conscious development. Life is anything that grows and
eventually dies, i.e., ceases to proliferate and be cognizant. Computers are
non-living because even though they can cognize, they do not develop
biologically (grow), and cannot produce offspring”
The
crucial difference between life and non-life (or non-living things) is that
life uses energy for physical and conscious development.
Someone even said life is
too deep for words, so don’t describe it just live it.
|
Three Cs of life are; choices,
chances and changes
|
My extrapolations from these;
·
Life is only a part of existence
·
Life is seen in growth
·
Life is evident in development, response
and acts
·
Life is movement, vitality, actions and
influence.
·
Life is what you make it
·
Therefore the 3Cs of life are valid.
They are. Choices, chances, and changes.
Note:
death is not necessarily the
opposite of life; death is the opposite of response (irritability) and growth.
When you put your switch on and light fails to show, then your bulb is dead.
When you water your plant, and yet no change in size, shape and color, then it
is dead. When you call the body of a man or you prick him and he doesn’t
respond, he is dead.
Killers of life,
killers of movement, growth, development, actions, influence.
I
categorized them into 3 C, 2A and 2L.
·
Accidents,
attitudes and addictions.
·
Complacency and
carelessness.
·
Lack of a sense
of purpose, vision, and laziness.
Accidents; a man wakes up one beautiful morning, performs his
morning rituals and he’s set for work. Looking forward to a great day, and
while driving to work in his car, a truck driver who lost control just ran into
him, and that’s all, he sees a white light and walks in. just in a similar way,
you can wake up in the morning, you see the yellow sun rising from the ground
filled the sky with colors of red and splashed the clouds with endless rays of
pink. You stared into the horizon and you’re confident about life you are moved
by your auspicious dreams, you faced the day with anticipation and
expectation…and then… Something happens. The stock market crashed, a new
government policy threatens the possibility of your new business, the money
you’ve been eagerly expecting to execute your plans fails to come, you missed
an important deadline etc. you see life’s unforeseen and unexpected vicissitudes have inherent in them
the ability to kill not just our breadth but the life out of us. But usually,
your reaction to such accidental situations is what determines if you’re going
to be dead or still live. Some resolve into despondency after such accidents
and lost their ‘life’ by giving up their dreams, visions and plans. I have
seen many people stop living even though existing, just because of one
disappointment. They left the business idea, stopped the book they were
writing, ended the relationship they struggled to build, dropped out of school.
They stopped hopping, stopped developing, stopped growing, they stopped
living. You should realize that it is
the ability to bounce back that is crucial and not an idealize ability never to
fall-Albert Bandura. This is one life killer you can’t control, but you sure
can choose your reaction.
They stopped hopping, stopped developing,
Stopped growing, they stopped living!
Attitude: your belief system affects your thought;
your thought affects emotions/feelings, which in turn affect your attitude, and
your attitude determines your behavior. Attitude is defined as a way of
thinking or feeling that is reflected in a behavior.
Your attitude in
life and towards life can kill life, some people are so negative that you don’t
want to associate with them, they are pessimistic, and they see only the wrong
even in the best situations. They carry around them such negativity that you
don’t want to be infected and lose your enthusiasm, joy, excitement and life.
Just as on the other hand, some people are so rife with life that once you get
around them, you are motivated, encouraged, and enthused. They spread such life
by their attitude. How’s your attitude? Is it encouraging life or killing it?
You might need to start evaluation from your belief and thoughts because those
are the building blocks for your attitude.
Addictions: According to WHO lung cancers along with
bronchus cancers and diabetes are two of the leading causes of death 2.9 and
2.7% deaths respectively. These two are caused by certain risk factors which
are smoking and overeating. The underlying definition is addictions, victims of
these can’t seem to get away from it, they cat seem to break free. They are
incarcerated by those actions and unfortunately it is gradually ceasing their
breadth and driving them through a bomb-less, unhindered and bay-less
expressway to their grave. In similar manner, there are certain addictions that
gradually make you lose your life, they seem to stealthily take away the joy,
fun purpose and fun out of your life: media addiction, cell phone addiction,
internet, when you should be dreaming, you’re are busy chatting, when you
should be strategizing, you’re glued to the TV 21/6.
Complacency:
The greatest enemy of best is good. Nothing kills life more than stagnancy.
Matter of fact, decay starts at the point where growth stops. Once you stop
growing, you start dying. Don’t forget
we explained that life is seen through growth, and one of the surest paths to
growth is learning. So when you stop learning, growing, trying to expand,
trying to be better, I think you are killing your “life”. Henry Ford says
“anyone who stops learning is old, whether at twenty or eighty. Anyone who
keeps learning stays young. The greatest thing in life is to keep your mind
young”
Carelessness: sometimes accidents that take away the physical
breadth are irresponsible acts of carelessness or recklessness. When people go
through life as it comes, they have no expectations, no limitations, no
inhibitions. My pastor took us to a buffet with a 23year old birthday celebrant
some months ago, and I asked the guy what his plans would be for the next year,
what he would have loved to achieve at 24, and to my utmost bewilderment, he
said he never had any goals or dreams or expectations. That he just wanted to
live life as it comes: it’s really kind of obvious on him though, because the
guy has finished high school and not any further no plans to study more, or
take a job, he is just feeding on his parents like parasitic lukewarm and
getting fatter every day. There are only two things in his life worthy of
emulation; he is dedicated to God(the
church) because he has all the time in the world to attend all church
programmes, and secondly he is obese, that’s for people like me who want to add
some flesh.
The
bible says “plan carefully and you will
have plenty” proverbs 21:5. GNB. One of the world’s leading philosopher and
entrepreneur John Rohn says “I find it fascinating that most people plan their
vacations with better care than they plan their lives. Perhaps that is because
escape is easier than change.”
The idea is not to be so careful that you don’t even
live your life at all, that is the other extreme. Over carefulness inhibits
life, when you fail to take chances, you don’t want to dare for fear of
failure, or when you always hesitate too much. He who hesitates misses the
green light, gets bumped in the rear and losses the parking space- Herbert
prochow. Sometimes when you are too careful, it just turns out into another
form of carelessness.
The last 2 are the 2Ls
Lack of sense of
purpose or vision: people actually
perish for lack of vision. The future, they say, belongs to those who believe
in the beauty of their dreams. When you wake up every morning because you have
something motivating you, you have a sense of purpose, and you’ve got visions
aligned in that direction. You wake up every morning alive and active. When there is no vision or purpose, hope is
cut short, and when hope is lost, life starts degenerating.
The last is
laziness; yes this kills life
also. King Solomon said a lot about being lazy. In proverbs 18:9 he compared a
lazy man to a waster. Yes he wastes time and resources. In chapter 20:4, King
Solomon asserts that a lazy man would beg and have nothing. Laziness kills and
wastes time, and anything that takes your time, takes your life.
Other subtle killers
·
Obsession with people’s opinion of you
·
Clinging to the past
·
Pride.

worry or know how not to
The future looks uncertain, scary, hidden.we wouldn't be human if we didn't worry about things at times. We worry about our health, our parents/kids/friends,our relationships, our work and our spending... We worry that we're getting older, fatter, poorer, more tired, less attractive, less fit, less mentally alert, less everything really. We worry about things that matter and things that don't. Sometimes we worry about not worrying.
Look, sometimes it might be ok to "worry" so long there is something REALLY to worry about. What Jesus warned against is being overwhelmed with your worries which is anxiety. This is a total waste of time and energy for it is bereft of the ability to alleviate your worries,it is like chasing the wind.
